STRATEGIC PLANNING

  • Vulcana Women's Circus 2009-2011: strategic planning for artistic direction, organisational values, and community development from 2009 onwards. Member of Board in Directors in 2011, supporting grant applications and participating in recruitment of Artistic Director.

  • Youth Arts Queensland 2008: researched and prepared Cultural Diversity Strategy for State-wide youth arts organization looking to connect to artists from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD)/People of Color (POC) and Indigenous backgrounds. This involved interviews with all staff members, analysis of current organisational practices, and setting up partnerships with local organisations working with young people, ethnic communities, and/or the arts. Also supported various administrative tasks, including workshop logistics and resource research.

TEACHING & TUTORING

  • Tutorpedia 2014-2015: academic tutoring for elementary, middle, and high school students in English, Mathematics, Social Science, and other students - primarily working with students from minority/marginalised backgrounds

  • 826 Valencia 2014-2015: volunteer tutor for academic and creative youth projects including journalism mentoring for children's newspaper The Bayfarer and support for university applications as part of Personal Statement Weekend. Recognised as one of the Top 100 Volunteers in Fall 2014 based on volunteer hours.

  • SOMArts & Islamic Arts Museum: Flag Stories - Citizenship Unbound 2013-2014: co-led teaching team working on a year-long youth arts education project, where a cohort each of youth ages 12-18 in San Francisco and Kuala Lumpur collaborated on digital arts and media projects relating to identity and citizenship. Served as major cross-cultural link between Malaysian and American cohorts especially during weeklong in-person exchanges through cultural and textual translation & contextualization. Also in charge of social media and online presences and supported event organisation and class management.

  • California Institute of Integral Studies 2012-2014: academic editing for international and ESL students as part of the Dean of Students department
